Still in Myrtle Beach

living near the Meher Spiritual Center

Abel and I been in the Myrtle Beach area for around five months now.......time has flown by! In the background here is something of the beauty of the Meher Spiritual Center in Springtime, in the area of my favorite bench and the *Lagoon Cabin* where Meher Baba gave interviews in 1952 and 1956. Abel quickly moved in with a young man who is a caretaker on the Center, Brian West, and they seem to make good roommates. Nether Abel or I have worked anything other than odd jobs, but are getting by. Recently I applied for production work at a local newspaper, but I haven't heard back from them, so I guess I'll look for something else. I feel like the time has come to settle into a regular work schedule, as much as I have been enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle.

My health is still pretty minimal, but I am going to another holistic doctor, this one both a MD and a Chiropractor. I don't expect much progress now in the heat of the summer, after being very run down a few summers in a row in Joshua Tree, and, I'm afraid I must report, the summers here are almost as hot.

Corey, Kevin, Abel and myself, posing with a 900 lb. liger (half lion, half tiger, born in a zoo to the surprise of the zoo keepers) a very tame animal featured at nightly shows at the local reptile zoo, Alligator Adventure.

It's been really special having three out of my four boys here all at once this summer. Son number two, Daniel, is now twenty, and living and working in Los Angeles, as a Heating and Air Conditioning repair guy. I hope to get out that way at Christmas time and see him then. If not, he says he wants to visit here in Myrtle Beach eventually, to see the place where he was born.

My youngest son Corey just returned to Washington State after a three week visit, and my third son Kevin is still here, having decided to spend most of the summer with me. He'll return to WA at the end of August, and enter his Senior year in High School. Both Kevin and Corey enjoyed attending their first Youth Sahavas on the Meher Center, and since then we've done such things as visit local tourist attractions Alligator Adventure and Ripley's Aquarium, and, of course, the beach. We've also spent a lot of time just hanging out at home, the boys playing computer games, and the four of us ( including Abel when he visits) playing chess. I've made some stabs at working on my screen play and my novel, but have to admit I'm not making any substantial progress just now.

I bought a cheapo ($75) digital camera, with 640 x 480 resolution and a terrible, very wide-angle lens, but its been a lot of fun anyway, and makes good enough snapshots for this web-page and for e-mails. All of the boys have had a lot of fun taking pictures with it, mostly of each other.

I've been holding pot-lucks and showing DVD movies on Sunday evenings, something I hope to continue indefinitely. I still can't say if I am move here for the long run. Its very possible that I will be back in CA early next year, most likely to the Joshua Tree area again. Meanwhile, life in Myrtle Beach is good.

love to all,
